This years event takes place on July 4th and 5th 2008 Book now for a discount: Tickets are £10:00 for evenings or £5:00 for Saturday afternoon. This year will feature a Massive open sided ´Big Top´ holding over 2,500 people for inclement weather Over 80 unusual real ales on offer including Local ales from the Filo and Whites Brewery. Popular local bands will include Slam, Phil Hudson, Buick6 and Witch Blair Project (Blair Mackichan and Russel Field). High quality food, entertaining side shows for all the family. Yesterday, following an evening of volunteer work slogging fence panels around the park in preparation for the event, the team retired to the 'Flavours of India' in Hastings Town Centre for a quick Pint and a Vindaloo!
Never a lost opportunity with Phil Astell, as the bill is placed before us (for which we settle from our own salary), the mutterings of Phil are load for all to hear, " Do you fancy sponsoring the Hastings Beer Festival", a term apparently shouted a thousand times, to which a rather smart dressed restauranteur politely replies, "who gets the money", a common reaction Phil explains as he celebrates by digging deep in an alleged attempt at buying us all a pint in celebration of his apparent birthday. "It all going to charity, every penny of it", explains Phil as the gentlemen proceeds to write a cheque for 200 quid.
On a lighter note, Phil was quizzed as to why he had failed to buy us the pint he promised as well as how he had created a sponsor fund from what appeared to be nothing, all in the interests of charity. It bored many of us as we too had heard his mutterings a million times but we quietly respected that many hadn't. "I had some doubts explains Phil, "but I was always confident I could encourage those around me to 'wave those flags' of support. It's an overwhelming vote of confidence by all companies in and around Hastings and the fact that we have exceeded £10,000 is truly amazing. We've added loads more companies to our list".......
